Landscape Architecture – An outsider on the inside
Landscape, Design and the Environment

Jane Jose is a former journalist and Deputy Lord Mayor of Adelaide, now based in Sydney as a specialist in strategy and communication for urban and cultural policy and planning.

Appointed to the Central Sydney Planning Committee in 2003 Jane represents the community view. She is also a consultant to the NSW Government working on the Sydney Greenspace Programs. She will talk informally about her work over the past fifteen years in the public realm and the increasing role for landscape architects working with Local and State Governments in creating sustainable public places.

Jane has been an innovator in setting policy in local government and has assisted multi disciplinary design and planning teams in engaging communities in the shaping of public places from libraries, to arts centres, parks and playgrounds.

She is currently working with the Australian Institute of Landscape Architects with advocacy for the profession and their role in the design and planning of our communities.

***********************************************
The evening will commence with talks by Jane Jose and Mark Fuller (AILA National President) and will then be followed by the announcement of the 2006 AILA ACT Project Awards and the Water Sensitive Urban Design Awards to be presented by ACTEW
