Christmas is closing in on us fast, but there is still time for a couple of ACT Group events.

Nominations for the 2006 ACT Awards are being called for - see the link below. We are planning a lake side cocktail evening to make the announcements - with a 'special' guest! (to be confirmed). So pencil in the evening of Friday 24th March 2006 in your diaries.

As you would have seen in the AILA national notices, the AILA is celebrating 40 Years of Australian Landscape Architecture during 2006. The ACT Group is going to compile a listing of those Inspiring Sites that continue to influence our local landscape architects. See the link below.

AILA 40 in 2006

Celebrating 40 years of Australian Landscape Architecture

In order to kick start the 40 year celebrations of the AILA in 2006, the ACT Group is calling on all members (associates, fellows and graduates and students) to nominate their “Inspiring Site(s)”.

The selected site should be a landscaped sites which has had a significant impact on your work and/or your way of thinking about the environment and/or landscape architecture.

FREE SEMINARS

On Creating More Sustainable Gardens in the Canberra Region

Not sure how you can make a difference to the environment? Start with your garden – come to the free seminar on ‘creating more sustainable gardens for the Canberra region’.

At this seminar local practising Landscape Architects will advise on choosing plants and landscape materials wisely and provide suggestions to responding to climate change. They’ll also give advice on creating gardens in keeping with the local region. Ian Lawrence a fresh water ecologist will explain how he has retrofitted his garden to collect stormwater and re-use grey water.
