The planning of coastal settlements is a challenge for many parts of Australia. The landscape architects have worked within a multidiscipline team to create a framework to guide the future development of multiple settlements along a diverse and sensitive part of coast.
The project represents a comprehensive planning study that is well researched, communicates and establishes a strong landscape framework that is relevant to guiding the future landscape character and amenity of communities along the Victorian coast. The landscape architects have achieved excellence in the realm of planning providing pragmatic, usable, strategic solutions to complex problems.
The jury concluded that with their Coastal Towns Design Frameworks, Urban Initiatives have delivered a very significant landscape planning project that should be acclaimed and celebrated nationally.
