Peer Review Process

Expressions of interest for the conference were called from both academics and professional practitioners from across Australia and overseas. Abstracts outlining the title and a concise summary of proposed papers were requested in the first instance. The Editorial Committee selected proposed papers on their suitability and relevance to the conference theme and sub-themes. Authors were then invited to request a peer review of their completed papers and two referees assessed each paper, with a third referee only used where reviews were widely divergent. A double blind process was used to maintain the anonymity of authors and referees. Referees were selected on the basis of their expertise relevant to the subject of the papers to be refereed. Refereed papers have been identified and published separately to the non-refereed papers in the conference proceedings.

Criteria for Selection
Completed papers were accepted based on the following criteria.

  • The work was relevant and significant to the body of knowledge related to the thematic focus within landscape architecture and beyond.
  • The work reflected intellectual rigour through a deeper understanding of contemporary thought, either in theory and/or practice.
  • The outcomes were identified and based on scholarly reflection on their significance.
  • The intent of the work was well articulated and their achievement substantiated through a well-considered argument.
  • The work has not been previously published or is in the process of being published.
