AILA Fellows announced

The AILA National Council has great pleasure in announcing that AILA Fellowships have been awarded to the following ten AILA Registered Landscape Architects:

David Jones, Paul Harding, Alison Radford, George Gallagher, Graeme Harvison, Peter Haack, Jennifer Neales, Garth Paterson, Kirsten Bauer, Michael Spackman.

The AILA Fellowship is a special national honour awarded to individual registered members in recognition of distinguished services to the Institute and /or the profession in Australia.

Services recognised may be at the national or local level and may include contributions to the Institute through committee work or work on the State Chapter Executive, on National Council and/or distinguished services through professional leadership in private and/or public sector practice and/or work within the community or allied professional sectors.

David Jones FAILA

Associate Professor, Architecture + Building, Deakin University, Geelong

The AILA National Council has awarded an AILA Fellowship to Dr David Jones in recognition for his on-going and extensive commitments to heritage and landscape values supported through leadership, publications, research and advocacy focused upon South Australian, Victorian and New South Wales cultural landscapes and practitioners.

The Fellowship recognises David’s support to the profession of Landscape Architecture in particular his leadership contributions to and development of several University Landscape Architecture programs at RMIT, University of Adelaide and Deakin University.

 

Paul Harding FAILA

Landscape Architect, City of Onkaparinga, South Australia

The Fellowship acknowledges Paul’s long standing and on-going professional contributions at a state and national level, such as AILA SA President, State Executive positions and as an AILA National Councillor.

The AILA Fellowship recognises Paul’s passion for landscape and his connection with the land as evidenced in his considered and informed articles in AILA publications.  His writings reflect the belief that we all need to remain grounded and in touch with our landscape if we are to be good stewards. The AILA, Landscape Architecture and the country continue to benefit from Paul’s numerous professional and personal contributions being based around a set of core values and ethics.

 

Alison Radford FAILA

Formerly: South Australian Heritage Conservation and Regional Conservation

The AILA National Council has awarded an AILA Fellowship to Alison Radford in recognition for her role within Government whereby she influenced conservation and heritage values and had been an advocate for Landscape Architecture.

The Fellowship also recognises her commitment to the AILA in particular her more recent term as AILA SA State President.

 

George Gallagher FAILA

Director, TRACT, Sydney

The AILA National Council has awarded an AILA Fellowship to George Gallagher in recognition of his commitments to the AILA, for previous services to the AILA as Victorian State President and on-going professional committees and juries. 

The Fellowship recognises George’s professional and project leadership in public domain works and public and private developments, and his commitment to making each project provide better places for people to go about their daily lives. He has had key roles in national award winning projects.

 

Graeme Harvison FAILA

Principal and Managing Director for Design + Planning, AECOM, Brisbane

The AILA National Council has awarded an AILA Fellowship to Graeme Harvison in recognition for his commitment to and support for the profession of Landscape Architecture.

The Fellowship recognises Graeme’s national and international practice leadership and that his work is based on an ethic of environmental responsibility, with an approach that stresses managerial and interpersonal involvement, looking for integrated and practical solutions.

 

Peter Haack FAILA

Director of Design, Urbis, Melbourne

The AILA National Council has awarded an AILA Fellowship to Peter Haack in recognition for his commitment to and support for the profession of Landscape Architecture.

The Fellowship recognises Peter's national contributions to AILA's Accreditation of University programs, his national practice leadership including his passion for working with a range of disciplines on complex projects and his expertise in projects ranging from the broad scale to the site specific, which exemplify the skills and potential of the profession.

 

Jennifer Neales FAILA

Principal and Technical Director, RPS, Brisbane

The AILA National Council has awarded an AILA Fellowship to Jennifer Neales in recognition for her long commitment to and support for the AILA, including her roles with local AILA panels and as a National Councillor.

The Fellowship recognises her advocacy and professional representative roles to industry bodies such as the Urban Development Institute in particular on numerous Urban related Boards and in particular as Chair of the UDIA (Qld) Women in Development Committee.

 

Garth Paterson FAILA

Paterson Design Strategies, Sydney

The AILA National Council has awarded an AILA Fellowship to Garth Paterson in recognition for his extensive commitments to the AILA through active participation on AILA committees as well as NSW State President. 

The Fellowship recognises Gath’s professional leadership in private practice and in particular his recent achievements through his roles within the development industry whereby he was responsible for influencing design outcomes for residential community projects Australia wide. The Fellowship also acknowledges Garth's passion for making the discipline of Landscape Architecture a first tier profession in the design and stewardship of the built and natural environment.

 

Kirsten Bauer FAILA

Studio Director, Aspect Studios, Melbourne

The AILA National Council has awarded an AILA Fellowship to Kirsten Bauer in recognition of her long commitment to the AILA, through roles on the National Council and on the Victorian State Executive.

The Fellowship recognises professional leadership through her practice and her commitment to Landscape Architecture education and her numerous and on-going professional representation roles on professional and government panels.

 

Michael Spackman FAILA

Director of Spackman Mossop Michaels Pty Ltd, Sydney

The AILA National Council has awarded an AILA Fellowship to Michael Spackman in recognition for his commitments to the AILA, his on-going participation on industry panels and for services to the NSW Chapter as State President and numerous committees and juries. 

The Fellowship recognises Michael’s national practice leadership with particular focus on regional and environmental strategies as well as award winning urban design outcomes.
