A Tale of Two Cities will be a lively view into the future, by two of Australia’s most dynamic civic leaders. Lord Mayor of Sydney, Clover Moore, and Lord Mayor of Parramatta David Borger will paint the picture of life in their city in 2030.
It will be an imaginary tale based on the expectations of the strategic plans and policies now being developed and implemented by Sydney’s major councils. As two of the cities predicting significant population growth, they are planning now for a sustainable future.
Lord Mayor of Sydney, Clover Moore will outline her hopes for the City of Sydney‘s Sustainable Sydney 2030 project by describing the way the urban design of the city and cultural, social and economic strategies may have changed Sydney, making it a more enjoyable, accessible, comfortable and sustainable place to live, work and visit.
Parramatta’s Lord Mayor David Borger is Mayor of a local government area, like the City of Sydney, that is a community of multi- cultural diversity and one of the key growth centres for jobs and residents, nominated in the NSW State Government’s Metropolitan Strategy for Sydney.
David will give an imaginary view into the future of one of Australia’s earliest settlements two and a quarter centuries on. His talk will focus on how cultural development, quality urban design and building a sustainable economy have built harmony and shaped Parramatta into a harmonious and lively City.
A Tale of Two Cities will be part of the official program of Sydney Design 07, celebrating urban design and its role in shaping our cities, improving our quality of life and the harmony of our communities.
