The garden at Banksia House, on Gubbi Gubbi Country in Queensland, was designed by 7b landscape and interiors in collaboration with Majstorovic Architecture. The designers for this residential project challenged ‘business as usual’ for luxury holiday homes, with most of the large block devoted to landscape.

The design of this home and garden responds to its unique site and place. The strategic use of natural and raw materials, along with the predominantly native coastal vegetation selection, embraces the site’s exposure to the weather and ensures that this project will improve with age.

The design responds to the clifftop coastal setting with a industrial details, and a diverse mix of textures, tones and patterns. In contrast to this, a permeable open plan constantly connects to the richly layered landscape, with plants carefully chosen for their ability to thrive in the local Sunshine Coast conditions.

This project is evidence of a cohesive collaboration between the project team members to create a timeless residence that seamlessly blends nature and home.
