Dear AILA members
The ACT Legislative Assembly is currently considering our greenhouse gas emissions reduction target for the year 2020, and they are considering a cut between 25% and 40% from our 1990 emissions level.
The Assembly's Standing Committee on Climate Change, Environment and Water recommended a 40% target, and a group of concerned Canberra residents and community organisations, Canberra loves 40 %, are letting our Government know that we'd like them to pass 40% through the Assembly.
Attached is an invite to a public forum taking place on 29 July 2010 between 12.30-1.30pm at the Legislative Assembly.
This is a chance for the ACT AILA members to find out where the elected representatives stand, with Labor's climate spokesman Simon
Corbell, the Liberal Party's Zed Seselja and the Green's Shane Rattenbury coming together to answer questions from the community about the ACT's impending carbon reduction target.
The event will be hosted by the ABC's Sarina Locke and will be a chance for all members to have their voices heard.
