AILA Practices - Agencies
SPONSORSHIP AND The AILA®
Dear AILA members,
Attached is a letter written to melbourne based landscape architects.
As the AILA database has a mix of business and private email addresses, and that various members are employed within the same firm, there maybe a duplication of this letter to some firms.
Please refer this matter to the person who would be in a position to consider this partnership opportunity.
If you are not in a position to take up this opportunity, we thank you for your time and consideration and look forward to seeing you at the conference in May next year.

As you would have seen in the AILA National Communiqués, the AILA National Conference is to be staged at the Docklands in May 2009.
The theme of the conference is Shifting Perspective & Practice: an interdisciplinary future. The theme is:
Landscape architecture is challenged by the need to engage in continuous adaptation and respond to the implications of globalization, climate change and population growth. It has become increasingly evident that present design forms and approaches frequently fail to meet these challenges.
There is an urgent need to seek out new ways of responding to the effects of ecological, economic and social change on urban and landscape environments. Built environment design professions require multiple approaches and scales of engagement in order to present society with future design scenarios to respond to increasingly complex conditions.

At the moment the organisers are locking in a range of sponsorships and partnerships for this important AILA event. However before we start approaching the usual range of supporters, nurseries and suppliers etc, we are opening up opportunities for Melbourne based AILA practices to undertake a special form of conference sponsorship that will promote your role in landscape architecture across Melbourne and nationally.
These special one-off partnerships are being offered at three levels.
- Session Chair: The practice partner would be able to chair a session within the main part of the conference. This would allow the practice representative to introduce themselves and their practice to the conference and to be viewed as an active professional participant in the running of this prestigious event. To be a session chair and to be given the appropriate branding within the conference marketing: $6,600 include GST.
- Conference Tour Manager: The practice partner would guide one of the tours to local sites and may also include a visit to the practice studio (the latter would depend on timing). To be a site tour sponsor and leader and to be given the appropriate branding within the conference marketing: $6,600 include GST.
- Combination: A practice may opt to take out the combined package of both the above opportunities.
As stated earlier, the conference organisers are about to approach a large range of other sponsors for support and participation in the conference. Therefore you need to be aware that these special opportunities to be part of the conference profile are being offered for a limited time.
In order to book your partnership, it would be appreciated if the request to participate could be faxed back as soon as possible. Please bear in mind that there are only nine opportunities for local practice representatives to be Session Chairs. Please also nominate your proposed Session Chair.
If your practice is looking for such an opportunity as offered please fill in the attached form and fax or pdf it back.
On the other hand, if your practice would like to make use of the Site Tour opportunity to profile your work to a national audience, then please fill out the form with the details of your proposed site tour, including who will be nominated as the tour leader.
Once the proposals have been received, the conference organisers will assess the applications and offer these key positions to a range of local AILA practices. Please be aware that the organisers reserve the right to also directly approach local and interstate members for these partnerships.
CLOSING DATE FOR FIRST CALL FOR EXPRESSIONS OF INTEREST: Thursday 11th Sept
We look forward to receiving your submissions, to assisting in profiling your practice in the months leading up to the conference as well as through your participation on the day.
Yours sincerely
Paul Costigan
Executive Director
