I
wish to announce the formation of the Australian
Landscape Foundation as an organisation within
the Australian Institute of Landscape Architects.
The
Foundation has been formed to:
- Advance
awareness of achievements in Landscape Architecture
and its contribution to the environment and community.
- Advance
research, education and the practice in the discipline
of Landscape Architecture.
Members
of the Australian Landscape Foundation include
Senior Landscape Architects who have donated their
time and energy to promote the profession and its
achievements in Landscape Architecture in Australia.
The
DVD ‘A Passionate Profession’ is the
first in our series of multi-media productions
that will be used to promote the profession and
the role of members in transforming our communities.
Further project related DVDs will be used to raise
funds for ALF, in partnership with Government and
private organisations.
The
Foundation has an initial target of $1m to be invested
and utilised for research and promotion of Landscape
Architects in Australia. The AILA is working with
other BDP members to the Deductible Gift Recipient
Status which would then encourage increased corporate
support.
However,
rather than delay the formation and work of ALF,
the initial funds of $45,000 required to produce
our first multi media presentation were raised
to promote public awareness of Landscape Architecture
in Australia (refer DVD insert - list of sponsors).
This
first promotional multi-media presentation illustrates
the profession and introduces the formation of
the Australian Landscape Foundation. The presentation
identifies the need to raise funds for the ongoing
promotion of Landscape Architecture in Australia.
To
keep the momentum going, could practices please
consider making a contribution of $250 plus donation.
These funds will be used to assist with the publicity
campaign to achieve increased recognition of Landscape
Architects and our achievements in the eyes of
philanthropists and potential sponsors.
The
Australian Landscape Foundation while under the
direction of AILA must be self sustaining and while
we have a number of practitioners donating their
time and energy to attain the objectives of ALF
we need the profession’s support to move
forward.

Note:

Profession’ these are available from AILA
National Office at a cost of $15 per copy including
postage.
Practices
should also consider purchasing multiple copies
for distribution to local government agencies as
well as local high schools/colleges. A special
price will be available for multiples of 10 copies – contact
