Big Strategy - Policy + Governance

Speakers: Malcolm Snow and Bridget Smyth. Facilitator: Dr Catherin Bull AM

Landscape architecture and Landscape Architects can and must shape the future of Australian cities. For this to be achieved the profession can no longer afford to see itself as a support act but instead take a lead role in formulating comprehensive urban strategies and how these are implemented through supportive governance mechanisms. No other profession so directly connects people and place but good design alone will not guarantee the realisation of lasting environmental, economic and social benefits. Governing places for continued success demands that the profession be equally adept at managing how they are administered so that the original place objectives are not diminished.
