Retired Membership

Under the AILA rules, a retired membership is only available to Registered Members (including Fellows) who have retired completely from paid professional activity and who have ceased to advertise or to be available for paid consultancies or project works in any fields relating to the profession of landscape architecture.

The retired status entitles a member to full membership benefits while paying generally a fee half that of the full membership (note, this fee may be varied by the AILA Board of Directors in exceptional circumstances). To apply to become a Retired Member of the Institute please fill out the following form and email or send it to the National Office:

Forms: word document   or   pdf document

Application for Leave -
includes: Maternity , Special Leave, Full time Study Leave,
Unemployed (no paid work)

A Registered member may be granted leave from full membership for home duties, maternity duties or similar circumstances.

Other special cases may be granted from time to time – such as special leave for full time study or during periods of no paid employment (being employed part-time means a member will be ineligible for leave).

If a Registered Member is working in an un-related field the full membership fee still applies.

On Leave Status means that the member retains all entitlements but at a reduced rate of membership. This is usually half the fee paid by a full member, but may differ depending on the time in which the leave status applies.

This form of leave is not available to graduates or students - only full members - and must be filled out completely to be considered for leave. Once completed the form should be emailed or sent to the AILA National Office for consideration.

If a Registered member does not apply for this concession, full fees will apply and leave will not be backdated.

Forms: word document   or   pdf document
