to gain recognition as an AILA Registered Landscape Architect
The Applicationprocesses
for AILA Registration (full professional membership)
To commence the AILA registration process, an applicant must have at least two years of professional practice following the completion of an accredited university degree or equivalent.
As the process commences in February each year, the applicant must have completed their accredited program at least two years prior.
The completion date refers to the date when the graduate has completed the accredited program, not necessarily the graduation date which can be months later depending on the university's own arrangements.
If any subjects are deferred, then the completion date becomes when the last subject is completed.

Mentorship is an important part of the application for Registration:The Mentorship period involves 12 months of mentoring with a Registered Landscape Architect.
This process commences by downloading the current form (below) and applying to join the mentoring process and this Regsitration Application must be received by the national office by February each year - for 2010 the date was Friday 19 February 2010.
New applicants may choose commence a Mentorshipe anytime by downloading the forms - but the applicant will still have to participate in the formal one year mentoriong process which commences with the application is due in February. If the applicant and employers wish to get ahead and or prepare for the Mentorship period - this is valauble but does not replace the formal year mentorship.
This Mentoring process must be completed by February the following year.
Applicants may defer, but this will mean moving the completion date to the following February and there is a cost involved.

The next stage of the application process - following successful completion of the Mentorship - is a workshop and an oral assessment.
This involves attending a workshop in March/April and the an interview in April/May following the receipt of the first stage mentoring report.

This form was to be submitted early (anytime before 19 February 2010).
It is recommended that applicants for 2010 should have start the mentoring and assessment in March 2010.
This means that the minimum time is 12 months for the Mentoring.
The date for the receipt of Registration Applications was Friday 19 February 2010 - a date is still to be set for February 2011 applications.
Once received, it must be endorsed by the National Office before the Mentoring and assessment commences.
