Consultant
Selection
When
assessing potential landscape architectural consultants, AILA advises
clients and project managers to consider, in addition to the essential ‘track
record’ issues, the following:
1.
Are the Landscape Architect(s) professionally recognised: Registered Landscape Architects?
If
the firm is a specialist in Landscape Architecture, are the senior
members of the firm recognised professionally by the
AILA.
2.
Are there Registered Landscape Architects within the firm who are responsible
for the ‘high-risk’ areas of approving tender/contract
documents and administration or inspections during construction?
The
Australian Institute of Landscape
Architects (AILA) is Australia’s
peak professional body for landscape architects.
The
Institute has a range of classes of membership including students,
graduates and affiliates. ‘Professional’ members are
Registered Landscape Architects. (They may also be listed as Fellows - this is a special honour bestowed on AILA Registered Landscape Architects. )
A Registered Landscape Architect is an AILA professionally recognised landscape architect. That
person has passed
the AILA entry examination after graduation from
an accredited
course and at least two recognised years of experience as a landscape architect.
The registered landscape architect has also committed to on-going professional development which is reported annually to the AILA.
Fellowship is
an honour granted by national council of AILA in recognition of outstanding
service to the profession.
All
AILA members are bound to a Code of Professional
Conduct.
