Professor Catherin Bull
The Australian Institute of Landscape Architects (AILA) celebrates the awarding of the Member of the Order of Australia (AM) to Professor Catherin Bull as announced as part of the 2008 Australian Queen’s Birthday Honours.
Professor Catherin Bull is acknowledged as Australia’s foremost and most respected academic leader of Australian landscape architects. Catherin has always been an active participant in the profession’s directions and growth and remains an inspirational observer of the development of landscape architecture both nationally and internationally.
Professor Bull has produced an extensive list of articles on the theory and practice of the profession and the role of cultural interpretation of the Australian landscape. She has had an extensive influence on the discipline, the practice and teaching of landscape architecture for over 30 years.
The AILA acknowledges Catherin Bull’s many contributions, as a leader and mentor, as a teacher, as an author and commentator, as a practitioner and as an arbitrator. Catherin is an AILA Fellow and past AILA National President. She continues her work with the profession through think tanks and professional forums and has chaired numerous professional committees and awards juries.
Throughout her career and all her activities, Professor Bull has advocated and demonstrated rigor, thoroughness and balance in her leadership, ideas and determination.
