1. President’s Report
The State executive team have been busy for the first few months of this year organising an event-packed year for our members’ education and enjoyment.
In essence we have tailored our talk and technical workshop series this year to cater for a broad depth of our members and sponsors.
I would like to thank Damian Pericles and David Martin who have provided assistance in putting the talk series together. A key focus of the technical workshop series is the provision of key educational expertise for younger members and which has an appeal beyond our current member base.
We have also modelled are technical series around many of our sponsors’ experience and expertise.
Sponsors: I would like to welcome our partner sponsors for this calendar year. Please click on their logos and visit their web sites.

3. Sustainable Sydney 2030
City of Sydney Strategic Plan.
Green Global Connected.
A transformed city, powered by self sustaining means, providing affordable housing around vibrant city hubs with a thriving arts scene. Sound good? That’s not the half of it..... Read on to find out some initial insight into the City of Sydney’s 2030 Strategic Plan.
I was recently invited to attend a pre- launch briefing of the City of Sydney’s much publicised Sustainable 2030 Strategy. In attendance were leaders of industry, cultural organisations, and commercial practices; a wide canvass of stakeholders whom are set to be involved in one way or another with the implementation of the cities’ vision .
The 2030 vision plan is a heroic effort. The Sustainable Sydney 2030 strategic Plan will be launched by the Lord Mayor this Week.

4. Sydney Design Week
Sydney Design 08 is Sydney's premier design festival. Run in August and held in various sites throughout the city, it showcases design across the professions. Last year AILA contributed to debate in the city by hosting a gala talk in Sydney's town Hall and an exhibition of our award winning landscapes. This year we are aiming to hit the streets with some installations in key public spaces with many possibilities now on the table.
Revitalising a city lane/ greening the forecourt of the Powerhouse museum/ and creating a 'green line' through Sydney's most talked about street..... If you would like to find out more, and be involved in this exciting project, please contact the AILA NSW group to register your interest, AILA.NSW.GROUP@bigpond.com
5. AILA UDAL Group
AILA UDAL [NSW Urban Design Alliance] group is now in operation. We had a great response to the call for interest for committee members to the AILA urban design chapter. The group is involved in the organisation of a formal launch for UDAL NSW later in the year with a guest speaker event planned for a city venue.
