urban design alliance
AILA UDAL [NSW Urban Design Alliance] group is now in operation. We had a great response to the call for interest for committee members to the AILA urban design chapter. The group is involved in the organisation of a formal launch for UDAL NSW later in the year with a guest speaker event planned for a city venue. UDAL consists of the AILA, PIA and RAIA urban design chapters in NSW. Contact Adrian McGregor for more information.
A set of preliminary rules of incorporation have been established and a memorandum of understanding reached between the three organisations. UDAL meets on a monthly basis at Tusculum.
Work undertaken by AILA to date includes a submission paper forwarded to Planning NSW on the proposed changes to the NSW Planning System. The submission called for greater scrutiny and consistency in the Construction Certification system for landscape architecture. UDAL is also planning a retail and town centres workshop to be held later in the year.
