Many of you will know our team as SCAPE strategy, established in 2004.

In keeping with our move from North Sydney to Circular Quay in January 2011, we emerged with a new home and one brand – Scott Carver.

The renewed brand has a breadth of capabilities in architecture, urban design, integrated transport, planning and landscape architecture.

Much of our work has not been in the spotlight and has involved large scale urban strategy work in Sydney and Newcastle.

The salon provides a “snapshot” into three very different project scenarios that exposes the breadth of the profession as we push the bounds.

Extreme communities – Karratha a desert landscape

Remote living, a specialised workforce and fragile landscape are challenges in the design and planning of remote “instant” mining communities where the extent of managed landscape is defined by the capacity to recycle water.  We provide an insight into the mechanics, core issues and real time bio-sustainability agenda.

Pemulwuy – realising a 40 year dream

For 38 years “The Block” in Redfern, has been a cultural battleground between the aboriginal community, trade union movement, State and Federal politicians.  The vision of a “meeting place” is set to redefine central Redfern. The public domain will interpret the past and represent a new journey for the urban aboriginal community. Pemulwuy is a project with national and international exposure which has its roots in social justice and symbolism.

“ALTITUDE” – Retrofitting 1970’s Canberra

The 1970’s saw the emergence of the “native“ landscape that defined the character of Canberra’s newer satellite communities of Woden, Weston and Belconnen. This was a time of experimentation and influence by the landscape profession. 40 years on there have been lessons learnt. The ALTITUDE mixed use project is a major urban infill that will change the urban landscape.
