Jamestown Revitalisation

Oxigen

The study team has taken a project that started out to be investigations for the master planning of Belalie Creek and Ayr Street to produce a comprehensive and creative strategic revitalisation of the Jamestown town centre.

The 2005 AILA SA Jury was impressed with thorough nature of the analysis of issues and opportunities as well as the comprehensive and detailed nature of the proposed strategies and implementation program.

The prime focus of the study, the Ayr Street and Belalie Creek environs, received a detailed master planning makeover cleverly balancing the need to respect the heritage framework of the town with opportunities for contemporary intervention. While not required by the brief the Jury would have preferred to have seen a broader public consultation process. However the study is very well presented with informative and high quality graphics and Oxigen should be congratulated on the high quality of the work.
