SA Museum Forecourt
Taylor Cullity Lethlean
2005 AILA SA Jury citation:
South Australia has trialed many innovative ideas and developments in recent years. The current State government is committed to environmentally sustainable development and alternative methods to promote it.
This project, developed by landscape architects, demonstrates latest advances in Water Sensitive Urban Design. The resultant design cleverly captures water from the adjacent heritage buildings and North Terrace, provides filtration, storage and a re-use system within a constrained area then recycles the water to create a green open space for general recreation and museum events.
The WSUD system is one of the first in Australia and was designed and installed requiring no additional project funding. The location and future monitoring will provide an important educational tool to communicate water conservation measures and broader ESD goals.
Congratulations to Taylor, Cullity, Lethlean and the foresightedness of their client the SA Museum.
