Commonwealth Park

Commonwealth Park is a picturesque English style landscape set within Canberra’s Parliamentary Triangle. The 34 hectare site was designed by the English Landscape Architect, Sylvia Crowe in association with Richard Gray of Holford’s in 1965 as Canberra’s central public parkland. It was intended as a place of leisure, as well as a stage for horticultural excellence. The park holds the largest collection of introduced and native plants in Canberra. These were carefully selected to suit the growing conditions and showcase to home gardeners the types of plants which could grow successfully in Canberra.
