Landscape Architects : Urban Initiatives
Year: 2000
Awards: 2000 AILA Merit Award in Landscape Architecture
Overview
The Melbourne based firm, Urban Initiatives designed this award
winning landscape. The Landscape Architects were employed
by the local council to work with the local group of the RSL
(Returned Services League) in siting a new statue.
The
project evolved into something much larger. The whole
space was redesigned creating a forecourt featuring two dramatically
placed statues and a water feature in the shape of a cross.
This
space is used each year for Anzac Day ceremonies.
Behind
the walls of the forecourt a comfortable passive space which
is frequented by the public and office workers.
