Landscape Architects: URBIS
location: McCabe St Mosman Park, Parth
The landscape design was developed to provide flexible multifunctional outdoor spaces that would create outdoor learning areas for teaching and encourage interactive play for the young students. The School has been encouraged by Urbis to take an active role in the landscape. Sensory gardens and classroom garden plots have been included in the design to promote this element.
Owing to ongoing water restrictions in Perth, Urbis has developed zones within the School of lower and higher water usage. The low water usage areas have been concentrated to the east of the site. Whilst the higher water usage areas have been contained through the central axis of the School.
The Site’s existing character was maintained. Existing grass trees that were scattered throughout the site were salvaged and relocated to the School’s main entrance. The grass trees now provide an identity and create a sense of entry to the School.
