AILA FAR NORTH QUEENSLAND LAUNCH


The first launch was held at the Riverway Lagoon, Townsville. 

The New  Townsville City Council and VIVO Design Landscape Architects kindly sponsored this event, and the evening kicked off to a great start with drinks and canapés. 

There were approximately 30 people in attendance, mostly landscape architects, landscape designers and contractors, as well as some suppliers and Councillors from the New City Council.

Cr Brian Hewitt and Dr Ross Coventry were guest speakers.  Brian expressed his views on his expectation of landscape design and how it was important to the overall city wide strategy, now that Townsville and Thuringowa have amalgamated, to create an aesthetic pleasing environment for the community.

Ross presented a very informative seminar based on soils in the Townsville region.   This included ways to deal with soil constraints to plant growth in the Townsville area, with special emphasis on dispersive soils that are widespread locally. (Click here for an overview of the presentation)
