by the high standard of projects entered this year and had some difficulty
in deciding which projects received awards. The design excellence displayed
in the various entries confirms the professional contribution being achieved

Rocks Riverside Park
Client: Brisbane City Council - Natural Environment & Sustainability
The establishment of this regional park is a significant addition to
the city’s infrastructure. The park provides a much valued asset to
the resident and has a variety of active and passive areas that establish
a strong message of sustainability. This public open space sets a direction
for future development and creates a platform for more informed decision making
and resolution of community needs and civic objectives.

Playground Design
Client: Brisbane City Council - Natural Environment & Sustainability
Well executed integration of innovative and exciting playground facilities
and
spaces into a variety of inner city parks. Site specific and creative design
solutions provide play opportunities for everyone and take playground design
to
a superior level. The integration of Brisbane’s sub tropical climate has
been achieved by the strong use of colour, water and landscape elements. The
collaboration with artists and specialist consultants has resulted in establishing
a palette
of interesting and exciting playground facilities.

The careful placement of the landscape design sets a foundation for the long-term
integration of the bus way infrastructure with minimal visual intrusion. The

Precinct
Client: University of Queensland
This challenging project combines a strong entry statement for the University
while adding transport and pedestrian movements. The result is an accessible
and pleasing pedestrian space, which unifies the diverse architecture styles
of the surrounding buildings. A well constructed design that resolves bus and
pedestrian movements creating a strong entry statement of public open space.

Client: Wuxi Li Lake District Planning & Construction
Wuxi is a highly resolved broad scale project. It demonstrates an excellent
collaboration with the Wuxi Government and a thorough understanding of the
site’s
landscape and cultural past. This project is an excellent example of environmental
restoration, which balances the integration of art, lighting, landmarks and
structures resulting
in a cohesive public open space.

Warwick Town Centre and Streetscape Strategy
Client: Warwick Shire Council
The streetscape has achieved a good balance of design while
maintaining the retail and civic heart and character of a local
heritage. The design has established a consistency by the
use of avenue shade trees, widened footpaths and added significantly
to the public space within the town centre.

project has a remarkable history and offers some significant potential

Design Manual
Client: Stockland North Lakes
Excellent communication of principles and guidelines for the
controlled development of the North Lakes Town Centre. Production
of the design guidelines provides the opportunity for
development of the town centre by including the definition of soft
and hard landscape elements. The vehicular and pedestrian network
is clearly demonstrated in the design manual.
