Access Solutions Innovative Landscape Details Award

Jury Citation: This award recognises innovative solutions in landscape detailing. To be successful in this award, a project should not only demonstrate innovation but should include detailing that appropriate to the function and project aesthetics. Consideration is also given to the use of technology as well as social and environmental factors.

The 2005 Access Solutions Innovative Landscape Details Award goes to Niall Simpson and the City of Launceston for the George Street Environmental Corner.

Although not originally entered into this category, the jury decided that this submission illustrated excellence across all areas of the assessment criteria.
The high level of innovative and creative detailing, the re use of site materials, and the use of innovative lighting and water recirculation combine to make this project a worthy winner of this Award.


Stone cairns used to differentiate between edge of site and footpath.
Stone cairns were used because of the number of Backpacking stores in the area.

and Fastiagte Birches on the left are on the lower western end of the site

This is the Bluestone wall which the water feature shoots through.

Brick nosings where used to remember the old brick pavers.
