The inaugural
LGAT Greenspace award goes to Hobart City Council for the The Western
Lookout and Walkway, Pinnacle, Mount Wellington.
Although
not entered in this category, the Western Lookout project was considered
by the Jury to be the most outstanding local government project for
the year. The design is sensitive, sculptural and beautifully resolved.
The Western Lookout and Walkway is a superb example of a meticulously
considered and economically executed contribution to public open
space.
This project
provides a fine example of the outstanding work that can be achieved
by local government through collaboration and site responsiveness.
The project
excels in all criteria and stands out in the Greenspace Award Category.
Although only one award is being given, the Jury would like to make
special mention as another excellent project in this Category- the
Kingston Stormwater Wetlands project by Kingborough Council.
Congratulations to Tecton Projects and Hobart City Council.
