Citation: Funded by the WWF Australia (formerly the World Wildlife
Fund Australia) the Tarkine
Experience project is an innovative example
of deeply considered Strategic Planning on a broad regional scale.
Inspiring
Place utilised an interdisciplinary approach driven by ‘Thematic
Interpretation’ and encompassing site planning and tourist product
development. The project also included a very comprehensive Business
Assessment to demonstrate the potential for the establishment of a
tourist development in an environmentally sensitive area as a sustainable
alternative to damaging resource extraction.
The
range of disciplines involved and the level of detail attained at
each phase can only enhance
the projects capacity to influence the
decision makers. The project meets all three criteria in this category
at a very high level.
