The International Federation of Landscape Architects' Eastern Region conference was held at Darling Harbour in Sydney, Australia from 25th - 27th May 2006.

This three day conference was organised by the Australian Institute of Landscape Architects and the New Zealand Institute of Landscape Architects in partnership with the University of New South Wales Faculty of the Built Environment.

This international conference focussed on the theory and practice of landscape architecture within the region.

Delegates were welcomed from IFLA members countries, including those of the Eastern Region.

This conference also celebrated the 40th anniversary of AILA.

National and international speakers addressed the pivotal role of time and change in the practice of the built environment professions and its effects on contemporary society & the landscape. (more)

The conference opened on Thursday evening at the conference centre with a special AILA NSW welcome event and two of the Key Speakers (this event was also open to the public). Delegates were then be hosted by AILA NSW with a delegates cocktail reception.

The conference continued through the following two days (Fri 26th & Sat 27th) finishing Saturday night with the gala conference dinner.  

The AILA and the University of New South Wales havel published refereed proceedings and staged the student design competition.
