Having
graduated with a Doctorate in Design from
the Harvard Graduate School of Design in
1995, Dr. Yu subsequently worked as landscape
architect and urban designer with the SWA
Group in the USA.
Dr.
Yu is the founder and dean of the Graduate
School of Landscape Architecture at Peking
University, and is the founder and President
of Turenscape, which is an internationally
awarded firm with more than 200 professionals
and is one of the largest private firm
in China that focuses on landscape architecture,
urban design and architecture.
Dr.
Yu publishes widely, including more than
150 papers and 11 books. His major research
fields include Landscape
Security Patterns and Ecological Infrastructure,
The Theory and Method of Landscape and
Urban Planning, and The Cultural Aspect
of Landscape.
Dr.
Yu has been awarded three ASLA Honor Awards
in 2002 and 2005 respectively by the American
Society of Landscape Architecture for the
following projects The Zhongshan Shipyard
Park, The Shenyang Architectural School
Campus, and the Urban Development Pattern
of Taizhou ).
Dr.
Yu was the winner of the National Gold
Medal of Fine Arts (2004,the Cultural Ministry
of Chinese Government), Winner of Human
Habitat Model Award for his designed project
(2002, the Construction Ministry of the
Chinese government). In 2004, Dr. Yu was
awarded as Oversea Chinese Pioneer Achievement
Medal by the Chinese central government
for his overall contribution to the nation.
Dr.
Yu is senior consulting expert and planning
committee member in more than ten cities
and provinces including the Capital Planning
Expert Committee of Beijing, Hangzhou Municipal
Planning Expert committee, etc. Dr. Yu
also served as member of the Education
Guiding Committee at the Chinese Ministry
of Construction in both Urban Planning
and Landscape Architecture.
