About the Awards

The purpose of the awards is to foster recognition of the profession, encourage excellence in landscape architecture and provide public acknowledgement of the valuable contributions made by the profession to the improvement of our natural and built environments.
Judging Criteria

Entries into the 2001 Awards were under three broad categories:

  • Category 1: Landscape Design
  • Category 2: Landscape Planning
  • Category 3: Vison, Ideas and the Future

Graduate and student awards entrants were required to present their work to a panel of judges who oversaw all entries in that category.

An award of merit may be awarded to the winner in each category. Commendations may be awarded to projects which display significant effort and success but which are not at the level of an award of merit. Judges may award more than one award of merit or commendation, and it is not mandatory for judges to give an award.

The panels subsequently conferred to deliberate on the awarding of a Landscape Excellence Award. This award acknowledges outstanding achievement in landscape architecture.
