BAYSIDE CITY COUNCIL - WORKING WITH LOCAL GOVERNMENT

Landscape Architect:
Earth Tech

Jury Comments
Earth Tech Engineering Pty Ltd (formerly Fisher Stewart) was contracted to provide engineering and landscape architecture services over a 5 year period to the Bayside City Council.  At the start their staff consisted of 8 engineers and one part-time landscape architect, but by the end the landscape architecture input had increased to 2 full-time positions and become an integral part of  a wide range of projects.

Activities with landscape architecture input included:

  • standard design, documentation and contract administration projects

  • customer services and public consultation

  • asset management

  • traffic, parking and pedestrian studies

  • assessment of access equity and public transport issues

  • safety audits.

Through the overall effect of their cumulative inputs, the landscape architects at Earth Tech dramatically increased the sheer volume and consistency with which their skills were used, broadened relationships of an interdisciplinary nature and developed close working relationships that will be valuable for more complex design projects in future.

The jury congratulates the proponents on a project that should set new standards throughout local government, and awards a Commendation.
