Future Leaders Awards

City of Port PhillipGraduate Landscape Architect Award
MATHEW BRADBURY of Michael Smith & Associates

As a graduate Landscape Architect now in his second year since graduation, Matthew has taken full advantage of the wide range of tasks, opportunities and responsibilities presented to him. His employer Michael Smith quickly discovered that he could place a high degree of trust and responsibility in Matthew. The seven projects presented ranged from shopping centre streetscapes and public reserves for sports and passive recreation, to a domestic garden. All required technical understanding and knowledge of extended design processes involving close consultation, presentation and evaluation with both client and user groups.

This level of involvement is not usually available to such recent graduates and Matthew has more than risen to the considerable challenges as attested to by two independent letters of support from the Cities of Whitehorse and Kingston. The Jury was impressed by the underlaying dimension and power of Matthew’s quiet presentation resulting in unanimous support for his Future Leaders Award.
