Emerging Achiever Award
Emerging Achiever is awarded to an AILA Member Undergraduate or Postgraduate Student who is showing promise to the profession of landscape architecture through the excellence in their design work, involvement in AILA Fresh and their generosity in professional exchange with their fellow students and AILA members.
Future Leader Award
Future Leader is awarded to an AILA Graduate Member landscape architect who is in the early stage of their career (within five years of graduating) who is showing promise to the profession of landscape architecture through the excellence in their design work, leadership within AILA Fresh and their generosity in professional exchange within their practice and externally with AILA members.
The criteria for the Emerging Achiever and Future Leader categories are:
Using the three Core Qualities of Thinking, Leadership and Results judges will be assessing the entries based on who has best demonstrated contribution to the profession of Landscape Architecture and consistent with the intent of the Award.
Submissions will include a 1000 word (maximum) document for the chosen Award Category and should contain:
demonstrating value to the profession and application of Landscape Architecture principles.
demonstrating their merit consistent with the intent of the Award.
one Page personal biography including achievements, highlights and volunteer community and/or professional experiences.
a letter of recommendation from a third party e.g. direct employer, manager or client, educator.
three pages maximum of A4/A3 evidence demonstrating any claims made in the submission e.g. drawings, photos, and other award.
Submission requirements
Each submission for Emerging Achiever and Future Leader entry is to be supplied via DropBox to carmen.williams@aila.org.au by 11.59pm WST, Tuesday 31 March and include:
Completed Emerging Achiever and Future Leader Award Submission Form
PDF document (maximum of five pages) outlining the outstanding work undertaken by the individual and how it addresses the Australian Landscape Principles.
A statement from the Nominator about the Student/Graduate.
Optional: Any other information that may assist the jury in their decision.
Optional: Up to eight images as JPEG files including both Hi Resolution and Low Resolution
Note: there are currently no National Emerging Achiever and Future Leader Awards, this may change with the introduction of People Recognition Awards in the future.
No entry fee is required Emerging Achiever and Future Leader Awards submissions.
