Corkery Consulting: Rosenthal Public Domain Design Competition

Corkery Consulting was selected by Lane Cove Council for the Rosenthal Public Domain Design Competition together with three other consultant teams. Concept designs were prepared for the 5,200 m2 space located on top of a proposed structure incorporating retail shopping and multi-level underground parking. A series of existing arcades allow the new public space to be integrated with retail development to the east and Lane Cove Plaza to the south.

The Corkery Consulting concept provides an engaging place for people to relax, meet, socialise, perform and be entertained. It incorporates cafes, outdoor dining, roof top terrace, outdoor performance facilities, central green, markets area, interactive water features, play spaces and extensive seating. Shade is provided by strategically located tree planting together shade structures that incorporate solar panels to generate power for lighting and water pumps. Rainwater is to be collection and stored within the new structure for reuse in the interactive water features and for landscape irrigation.

Council has exhibited the four design competition concepts to obtain community comment. A brief will be prepared for the detailed design and documentation of the whole project, taking account of the design competition concepts and community input.
