SPEAKER ONE - Chris Boulton
Chris Boulton, Parks Manager Logan City Council, and qualified Green Flag Award judge will outline the recently introduced Green Flag Award Program in Australia. This standard is used extensively in the United Kingdom, and is a systematic and wholistic approach to assessing the quality of parks, with assessment undertake by independent certifiers. In 2014 Chris undertook Green Flag Assessments of parks in Victoria and New Zealand. 2 parks have recently been assessed in Queensland
SPEAKER TWO - Grant Evans
Asset Management Planning as Applied to Parks Asset Management Planning is commonly applied to hard assets by property owners and local government. But how does it work when applied to open spaces and soft assets? AECOM Consultants have recently undertaken comprehensive asset management plans for Roma Street and South Bank Parklands and produced financial modelling over a 5 year period to direct funding allocation. This approach is very much linked to the Standard of Services for both parklands. The project process, as applied to parks, presented new challenges, but quality and comprehensive information about the required expenditure to maintain the parks to a high standard.
