ACT AILA 50th Birthday Party and ACM

ACT AILA 50th Birthday Party and ACM
On Thursday 25 August, AILA members in each capital city will simultaneously celebrate AILA’s 50th Birthday Party.

The evening will start with the ACT Annual Chapter Meeting which will provide a short snapshot of the year just gone with an overview of our key achievements and reports from Catherine Keirnan – AILA ACT President and other members of our Executive.

We will then move onto the celebrations!

Through the contributions of its members, AILA has worked for 50 years to support, legitimise and strengthen the landscape architecture profession in Australia. Join us for a fun night of drinks and canapes to reflect on and celebrate our achievements, along with the premiere of AILA’s 50th Anniversary Film by film maker, Margaret McHugh.
The short film will document AILA’s beginnings and highlight some of its greatest achievements. The film will tell the story of the making of the profession of landscape architecture - the deliberate construction of a new profession in Australia and its institutionalisation (in 1966) through the development of AILA.

Award winning documentary film maker, Margaret McHugh, has been has been engaged to create this film for AILA with creative guidance from Helen Armstrong FAILA. The film will feature interviews with several of AILA’s foundation members.
