QLD RAP Event: Truth, Collaboration and Reflection
Multi-disciplinary viewpoints come together to help us explore "Truth, Collaboration and Reflection".

Each speaker will address ‘Truth, Collaboration and Reflection’ in their own way from their experiences. Be part of this discussion; meet the speakers and Connection to Country committee members, ask questions and get involved.

We will be joined by:

  • Aunty Ruby Sims, Mununjali and Wangerriburra Elder, Cultural Educator and AILA Cultural Ambassador 
    Aunty Ruby's passion is growing connections between people and place within a cultural framework so that our children, and our children’s children, have a shared future.
  • Darsha Beetson (Metro North Hospital) and Stuart Bull (AILA) discussing their collaboration on the 'Marrumba' Indigenous Healing Garden at Prince Charles Hospital
  • Sher Mitchell - an Archaeologist experienced in Aboriginal and Historical heritage assessments and consultation with Aboriginal communities

  • Michael Gilsenan, Yidinji and Torres Strait Islander (Ugar Island), Team Leader, BA Graphic Design, Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service. Michael manages a small team of graphic designers who communicate through print publications and park signage the environmental, cultural and heritage values specific to our diverse national parks.

Registration includes drinks and finger food. 

Attendees will be eligible for formal CPD points. 

*AILA Connection to Country Reconciliation Action Plan Artwork, Paul Herzich “The artwork illustrates the 65,000 years or so of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures as stars above Country. Each white star represents one century, equating to 650 centuries or 65,000 years. The two blue stars represents the two or so centuries of non-indigenous cultures.”

Paul Herzich is a Kaurna /Ngarrindjeri man from South Australia and a contemporary Aboriginal Landscape Architect and Visual Artist who has a focus on Aboriginal people, art and country.
