Kellyville Public School students aim for best playground in galaxy
IMAGINE a ‘moon car’ that can take you around the galaxy fueled by pure imagination. The car is one of several features of Skywalker Playground designed by the students of Kellyville Public High School. “They can go to the moon and back again,” she said. Auckland’s best buildings named
Projects ranging from a brightly coloured bike path built from a bit of old motorway to a temporary installation at an inner-city church, from reworked heritage buildings to a new and already much-loved library, and from idyllic houses to a small mausoleum are among this year’s recipients of Auckland Architecture Awards. Penguin Parade Visitor Centre to be redeveloped, design tender forthcoming.
The Victorian government has announced the redevelopment of Phillip Island’s Penguin Parade Visitor Centre.
The proposed $58.2 million facility will replace the existing visitor centre designed by Daryl Jackson and built in 1988. A spokesperson for Phillip Island National Parks told ArchitectureAU, “We are currently in the process of writing the tender documents for the architectural services for the project. SOUTH Yunderup’s Adventurescape Playground is in the running for the title of Australia’s Best Playground 2016, to be announced on May 24.
The Austin Lakes estate playground is one of seven entrants from WA. The Australian Institute of Landscape Architects has launched the national competition to celebrate the most well-designed public play spaces across Australia. Read more.

'If that's built, it's basically over': Toll road could ruin park, volunteers say
Felicity McGahan, Victorian chapter manager for the Australian Institute of Landscape Architects, said they wanted to see more tunnelling to protect the quality of open space.
