Green village taking root in old city bus station
Community gardens, a Troppo-style cafe and fresh lick of paint are in the process of transforming the decrepit old Franklin Street bus station and its swathes of surrounding bitumen into a green city oasis. Council chief executive Craig Wilkins said the idea was to lure a disengaged community back to environmentalism by “working out how to beguile people rather than bludgeon them” with green messages.
