AILA Launches a Renewed Strategic Plan for 2018-2022

The Australian Institute of Landscape Architects (AILA) has today launched its renewed Strategic Plan following a six-month review and consultations with State and Territory Chapter Executives.

The Strategy 2018-2022 will continue to focus on the four key pillars of membership growth, building the profile of the profession, advocating to government and creating a sustainable AILA.

AILA President, Linda Corkery, outlines that the previous Strategy was over half way through its cycle, the timing was right to review the achievements of AILA and reset future focused goals.

“AILA has recently developed the tools and ability to track and monitor the ongoing implementation of our strategy and we realised that we were on track to reach many of our goals early, so we’ve taken the opportunity to review and reset them for the next five years” said Corkery.

The new Strategic Plan reflects existing initiatives such as the RAP and Gender Equity Study that have made considerable progression over the past year. A high school program to profile the profession and support the education sector in boosting Landscape Architecture students will be introduced as well as a People Recognition Awards Program to sit alongside the already established project awards program.

Other introductions to the plan include advocacy resources and the improvement of governance and administrative standards for the organisation.

The review considered discussion with State and Territory Chapters as well as AILA members through feedback from the satisfaction survey conducted in late 2017. AILA wants to ensure that members are engaged in shaping and delivering the strategy.

“The organisation has been through a lot of change over the last four years and it is important that we remain committed to best practice governance, which gives the organisation a comprehensive structure to ensure we’re a well-run organisation.”

“We also need to renew the energy on our committees and working groups to ensure our members are actively engaged in shaping and delivering the strategy over the next few years” said Corkery.
