A resume, with a covering letter will often be your first opportunity to impress an employer and optimise your chance of being interviewed. The interview becomes your chance to shine. If you want to stand out, impress an employer and be offered a job; you need to do your very best at writing a resume, and presenting yourself throughout a job interview. This course shows you how.
Lesson 1 - Introduction: What is in a resume and what it should and shouldn’t contain. What an employer sees and thinks about when reading a resume. The types of resumes in current use. Lesson 2 - Impressing the employer: Learn what catches the attention of an employer, for all the right reasons. Lesson 3 - Preparing for an interview: Prepare for a job interview, show you are the right person for the job – including your physical appearance and state of mind. Lesson 4 - Performing at the interview: Make the best impression at a job interview, with confidence and good communication. Lesson 5 - Resume writing project: Example of functional resume. Example of a chronological resume. Example of targeted resume (a combination of functional and chronological). Build your own resume. Review what you have been learning. Final assessment – submit your crafted resume for feedback.
