Sarah Wilcox is a proud Pakana woman and the General Manager of the Aboriginal Land Council of Tasmania, where she leads strategic efforts to restore land and water to the Palawa Community of Lutruwita/Tasmania. Her work is grounded in the understanding that for Aboriginal people, Country is everything—it is where culture is lived, knowledge is shared, and community is strengthened. Sarah brings deep experience as a communications and engagement strategist, with a career dedicated to Aboriginal-led solutions, land justice, and self-determination. Through her leadership, returned lands are actively cared for by trained rangers, who manage fire, protect cultural and natural values, and welcome visitors. Community days, cultural camps, and access to facilities on returned lands help reconnect Palawa people with Country, culture, and one another. Previously, as Director of Cooee Tunapri Pty Ltd, Sarah led statewide engagement projects, including the tunapri luna cultural exchange, and political advocacy for water rights and cultural safety. She has contributed to national policy through the Commonwealth’s Committee for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Water Interests. Sarah is also Chair of Volunteering Tasmania and a certified Engagement Institute member and trainer. She designs culturally safe engagement frameworks, facilitates strategic planning, and challenges tokenism to centre Aboriginal voices in decision-making.
