Senior Entry candidates for AILA registration, together with having 8-years professional experience as a landscape architect, are expected to be able to demonstrate the following areas of knowledge:
· An understanding of the breadth and diversity of the landscape profession in Australia
· Environmental and community issues relevant to the profession in Australia both current and likely future issues
· Responsibilities of a Registered Landscape Architect to community, AILA and members
· Continuing Professional Development commitments and requirements
· Professional Contribution to the profession, the membership and AILA
The entry assessment panel will ask a series of detailed questions to test a candidates experience and knowledge of each of the above areas of knowledge. Candidates are required to demonstrate direct experience or knowledge through research to satisfactorily answer questions across all areas of knowledge in order to become an AILA Registered Landscape Architect.

Who can apply?
Applications for Registered Landscape Architect (Senior) membership are invited from qualified landscape architects and landscape design professionals with at least eight years’ full time experience or part time equivalent. Three are three categories of senior applications, all of which are applied for using the same form.
- Standard Senior Entry (with an Accredited Degree)
Applicants hold an AILA accredited landscape architecture degree (or international equivalent), have not previously been an AILA Registered Member and have at least eight years’ experience.
- Equivalence (with equivalent Qualifications/Experience)
Professionals with recognised practice in landscape architecture with at least eight years’ experience, but do not possess a qualification from an AILA accredited tertiary course. The applicant, in most cases, would be required to have an equivalent level of university qualification. Read more.
- Registered Landscape Architects of an IFLA Member Country or other
AILA is currently developing a range of mutual recognition agreements with other countries and we will list these here as they are ratified. In the meantime please message [email protected].

Fees
Initial application fee: $271 inc GST. Due on application submission.
Once you have successfully completed your interview, your membership fee will be calculated on a pro-rata basis until the end of the financial year. (30th June)
