Canberra's Political Gardens Unlocked

A private tour of the secret gardens of Canberra's Parliament House, Government House and The Lodge

The gardens of Parliament House have been the backdrop to many of Australia's most historic moments. But they usually remain hidden from the public's gaze. This is a rare opportunity to peek inside the building's many private courtyards. The courtyards have been designed with a mixture of the native plants to represent Australia but also quite a few exotic plants, including a red maple in the Senate courtyard affectionately nicknamed the "budget tree". Nicknamed this because it has its spectacular red colour around budget time in May, and provides a feature backdrop in many of the broadcasts.

Also packaged in this special tour is a private visit to the extensive gardens of Canberra's Grandest Residence, Government House, set in 53 hectares of lawn, parkland and gardens.
