Granting of equivalence of an AILA-accredited university qualification

AILA wishes to recognise the full spectrum of landscape architecture, being landscape design, landscape planning, landscape management and urban design.

The opportunity to apply for AILA Registration exists for those professionals with recognised practice in landscape architecture who do not possess a qualification from an AILA accredited tertiary course.

Important factors to consider when applying for Registration via Equivalence include:

  • The applicant in most cases would be required to have an equivalent level of university qualification.
  • Each case is treated separately depending on the seniority of the applicant, and their mix of qualification, experience and level of expertise.
  • Applicants are expected to have at least eight years' experience working as a Landscape Architect.
  • The applicant must have the years of experience recognised by the sponsors plus be able to produce ample documentary evidence of their level of expertise and experience. Such applications will be assessed as to whether the mix of qualifications and experience is equivalent to have an AILA recognised qualification.
