Happy Fringe time! Its that time of year when Adelaide comes alive….
 
AILA’s 2023 Festival  - in the Festival State!
Yes! AILA’s festival is coming to Adelaide for the first time! I hope you have all seen the fantastic news about the 2023 Festival in Tarntanya / Adelaide, being held from 19th - 22nd October. 
 
We are very excited that the 2023 the festival is directed by four leading landscape architects working and living on Kaurna Meyunna Yerta. Lyndon Slavin is a senior landscape architect at ASPECT Studios, Dr Tanya Court is creative director of Tanya Court Projects, Dr Scott Hawken is director of the Landscape Architecture and Urban Design programs at the University of Adelaide and Gemma Kleinig, landscape architect, City Design at the City of Unley. 
 
More details will be shared over the coming weeks on the theme UN/EARTH and we will be reaching out to our local members to become actively involved in the planning for this important event. 

AILA SA Awards 
I hope you are all busy preparing your Awards entries as we speak. AILA SA can’t wait to showcase your projects and advocate for the role of the landscape Architecture profession in our state. It is great to introduce our SA Jury to you this week and AILA SA looks forward to supporting them in their important role in 2023.
 
I’d also draw your attention to our new Water for Life Award proudly supported by SA Water. Free to enter and a huge opportunity to showcase projects small and large that demonstrate innovative, effective and efficient use of water to create green spaces.  Read all the details.
 
Studio Visits
AILA SA is planning a series of Studio Visits over the coming months to share plans for the year ahead. These also provide the opportunity to share your feedback on ways we can support your practice. Please reach out if you would like us to visit your studio. 
 
Chapter Advocacy
AILA SA Executive is also working in the background on several advocacy pieces including:
- A new round of promotion of the Healthy Parks Healthy People SA - Creating Greener Places for Healthy and Sustainable Communities Ideas for Quality Green Public Space in South Australia 
- The Environment, Resources and Development Committee is calling for submissions to its inquiry into the urban forest. AILA SA will be providing a submission to this important Inquiry. Read more
- Ongoing discussions with the Construction Industry Forum on a range of issues effecting the construction industry and LA profession, including preparing a roundtable with DIT leaders 
- Regular meetings with Kirsteen Mackay – SA Government Architect and the ODASA team to discuss issues and highlight opportunities facing the profession
