Damien Pericles

As a director of a national business with 23 years in landscape architecture across Australia and internationally, I have built a breadth of experience and insight into our industry. REALMstudios has established itself as a leading & award-winning practice. Recently, I have led WA Advocacy for AILA. This has flowed from strong OGA and government relationships. I champion LA involvement in DRPs and was instrumental in bringing Barbara Schafer to WA to talk on the Sydney Green Grid. I was also a leading member of the Creative Directorate for 2021 National AILA festival 'Spectacle & Collapse’.

Giles Pickard

As a member of the W.A. AILA Executive, I will continue to advocate for growing the roles and influence of Landscape Architects across all levels of government through policy and practice. We must continue to inform and be a leading voice in the planning of our towns and cities, growing and protecting our urban forests, and most importantly, in the mitigatiion and adaptation to climate change, while advocating for the growth of beautiful, green and healthy communities and our environment. I will continue to to actively speak out on behalf of our profession and all our members.

Jon Everett

I’ve had the privilege of serving on the WA Chapter Executive for the past 2 years and would love the opportunity to continue supporting our members and the institute. Having worked for 18 years’ overseas and locally, I believe I have the experience and skills to meaningfully contribute to the direction and development of the AILA WA Chapter and community. I’m a strong advocate for the development and growth of the next generation of landscape architects and future leaders and have tutored / volunteered at UWA whenever given the opportunity.

Kirsten Dawson

I have 17 years private consultancy experience and have designed, administered and managed a variety of projects ranging from greenfield urban developments, foreshore developments, rehabilitation programs, schools and community projects. Through this experience I would like to be able to represent the AILA members and provide a voice for current issues affecting the variety of landscape architectural projects across WA.

Michael Pearce

I will bring my diversity of experience gained across the profession over the last 25 years to the WA AILA executive. I am keen to work with the executive to look at how AILA can work with schools, universities, professional practices and individuals to facilitate greater interface and interaction. To enable potential and current students along with graduates the information and guidance to help them with their Landscape Architecture journey. To help access the large knowledge base within the profession, provide connections and mentorship to guide this transition into the profession.

Nelson Jeffrey

As a candidate for the position of Vice President for the Australian Institute of Landscape Architects state chapter, I firmly believe in the values and principles set forth by AILA. Self-sustaining landscapes are the foundation of our planet's health, and it is our responsibility as landscape architects to protect and sustain them. I am committed to taking a thoughtful approach to landscape change, restoring damaged landscapes to health, and recognizing that each landscape is best cared for by the community as a whole. I will work to reveal the value of each landscape to all people so that they can work in its best interests. I am dedicated to working collaboratively with the community and other professionals to reach the best outcomes for each place.

Nicholas Pierson

Having been a member of the AILA WA Executive since 2019, I can attest to the incredible diversity present within the Australian landscape architecture industry. It is this diversity of thought and skill that adds such value to our communities - creating meaningful and beautiful places that leverage the surrounding environment to enable people to thrive. While the industry's profile has been advancing globally, we still maintain a low public profile locally, which inhibits our sphere of influence. As a continuing member of the AILA WA State Executive Committee, I would aspire to increase our industry's presence and profile in all forums - advocating for greater recognition of landscape architecture's integral part in the creation of sustainable communities.

Paul Verity

Paul leads Josh Byrne and Associates' multidisciplinary design team delivering projects with an integrated approach to landscape architecture, environmental engineering, sustainable development, and community engagement. He comes from a strong applied research base in Landscape Architecture, Urban Design, and Environmental Systems.  This multidisciplinary perspective enables him to combine lateral and critical thinking with design and scientific principles to foster outcomes that benefit the client, community, and environment. With 20 years of experience, he has expertise in urban design, statutory planning, public open space strategies, streetscape design, waterways, wetlands, and foreshore restoration.
