Centenary Trail Bushwalk

Centenary Trail Bushwalk
Bookings closed. A guided bushwalk along Centenary Trail to One Tree Hill.

Jennie Curtis, a landscape architect living in the Canberra region, is going share her knowledge of the region’s treasures by leading a bushwalk along one of Canberra’s glorious walking trails. You will take a bus to the start of the walk on the edge of Hall Village and climb gradually through farmlands and grassy woodlands to the top of One Tree Hill. Wildlife in the area includes kangaroos, wallabies and a vast array of bird life. Near the top, steps provide access to One Tree Hill summit with panoramic views of surrounding mountain ranges and four of the five town centres of Canberra. This is a perfect spot to take photos and catch your breath before heading back towards Hall. Fun fact - the trig point on One Tree Hill was used by Charles Scrivener as the commencing point for his survey for the federal capital. This walk is part of the 145km long Canberra Centenary Trail opened in 2013 as part of the centenary celebrations.

Bus transfer 9:00am: A bus will transfer and return registrants from Canberra CBD to the start of the walk.

For people driving: Start of the walk is at the corner of Hoskins Street and Hall Street in Hall.  There is minimal parking at this point so a better option would be to park outside the school in Hoskins Street or Palmer Street and then walk approximately 150m to the meeting place.

Other information: Wear comfortable clothes and shoes suitable for walking on uneven ground. Bring hat, water bottle and camera. This walk is of moderate difficulty.
