VIC Celebrity Lawn Series
Come and hear the different perspectives from the people involved in this intriguing relocation project - landscape architect, client and turf supplier!
Celebrity Lawn Series is a new CPD series which includes a site visit and informative, educational talk. The event will be held at MPavilion Docklands (Corner of Collins Street and Harbour Esplanade in Docklands) which has undergone a recent transformation designed by Melbourne landscape architecture firm MALA. This project involved the relocation of Amanda Levete Architects‘ 2015 MPavilion, from Queen Victoria Gardens.
Over 500m2 of turf was also required for this project and was supplied by Lawn Solutions Australia member Lilydale Instant Lawn, with a fascinating story to accompany it.
- Campbell Morris from MALA Studio
– Adrian Lee from Places Victoria
– Steve Cole, Lilydale Instant Lawn, Lawn Solutions Australia
Steve Cole - General Manager of Lilydale Instant Lawn
Steve Cole from Lilydale Instant Lawn has worked in the turf industry for 31 years. Starting as an apprentice on a golf course he then completed an associate diploma of applied science in turf management. Steve has worked all over the world in sports field construction and instant lawn production.
Campbell Morris - Director of MALA Studio Landscape Architecture
Campbell is the founding director of MALA and leads the design and management of all projects undertaken by the studio. Under Campbell’s leadership the studio has quickly developed a large cross section of work across the public, private commercial sectors. Campbell also spent three years in local government working for the City of Boroondara. During this time Campbell managed the Urban and Civic Design Portfolio and oversaw the design and implementation of the Camberwell Fresh Food Market Public Realm, the Hawthorn Arts Centre Civic space, the Glenferrie Underpass Project and the Burwood Village Shopping Centre. Campbell also managed the Shopping Centre Improvement Plan and the Camberwell Laneways Strategy.
